28 and 29 June 2010 International conference on energy efficient renovation in residential building sector

06.04.2010

Sustainability is high on the global agenda and climate programmes require sustainable building in order to reduce CO2 emissions and save fossil fuels. Municipalities, housing corporations and other building administrators are seeking possibilities to make their existing properties more sustainable and energy efficient.

Therefore we will organise international conference on energy efficient renovation in residential building sector. The conference will take a place in Budapest from the 28th till 29th of June with the co-organisation of STACCATO and CONCERTO+. Within STACCATO three European capital cities Amsterdam, Budapest and Sofia, demonstrate sustainable energy concepts in representative existing residential areas.

The first day of the programme is concentrated around five important issues:

  1. Financial opportunities for energy efficient renovation projects
  2. Energy policy making on local level
  3. Technologies and innovations for reducing energy use & integrating renewable energies in an urban environment
  4. User behaviour, social issues and communication with residents – key to success
  5. Elements of success/lessons learnt

The second provides a deep look into best practice projects through interactive workshops. The afternoon we will visit two sites, the Faluhaz renovation project (part of STACCATO) where 50% energy and CO2 reduction achieved, and the REC Conference Center the building which aiming for zero emission.

The conference will be an opportunity for Central Eastern European project developers, municipalities, NGOs and networks to get the most recent and relevant information on  realising energy efficient investments.

Staccato is a project of the concerto initiative co-funded by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Programme
