Policy statement mrs. Armenkova, representative of the city Sofia

The Staccato project of the EU is very important for the district of Oborishte and for the capital Sofia as well, as it is a pilot project which demonstrates innovative approaches for renovation of housing buildings and implementation of new technologies, related to RES. With the Staccato project, Sustainable Development in the district will be enhanced as they both will lead to improvement of the quality of life for our residents and reduction of CO2 emissions. A part from the technological innovations, institutionalisation of new structures of inhabitants, like housing associations, which are new for Bulgaria, are of major importance.

Up to now a lot of representatives of residential buildings have expressed their wish to be included in the project, which is a great success, also by our staff and our partners, and a prerequisite for its further successful realisation.

We are thankful for Europe's support, and we hope to keep the necessary support from the national government as well, as the Bulgarian housing sector has a long way to go.

Staccato is a project of the concerto initiative co-funded by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Programme
